MeckBetterTogether

September 2020

Mecklenburg County's Department of Social Services (DSS) has teamed up with community partners to launch MeckBetterTogether.

This initiative was created to maximize the efforts of child and family caring agencies to support families and focus on the safety and wellbeing of children during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of the County's COVID-19 resources, the MeckBetterTogether resource list includes services that are available for children and youth that provide learning opportunities as well as recreational, social and emotional supportive activities. This virtual toolkit also provides support for parents to help manage stress related to reduced income or compromised health due to COVID-19. Programming and services include:

  • Supplemental Virtual Learning
  • Relationship Building for Families
  • Dealing with Stress and Anxiety
  • Child Safety
  • Nutrition
  • Arts and crafts
  • Nature Activities
  • Physical Exercise

The MeckBetterTogether resource list can be viewed here. This webpage will be updated with the most current programs, services and events.

As the new school year begins and the pandemic remains, these resources can assist thousands of residents throughout the community.

This initiative is the result of partnerships between Mecklenburg County, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, Smart Start, Child Care Resources Inc., Children's Alliance, Foundation for the Carolinas, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and many other key child and youth caring community providers.
