Making the Move to Kindergarten

July 2020

The countdown to kindergarten has begun!

To help make the transition as smooth as possible, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), Child Care Resources Inc. (CCRI), and MECK Pre-K are pleased to share these new resources for rising kindergarten families.

  1. Take a Virtual Tour
    • Visiting the school your child will attend is a wonderful way to learn what to expect. Schools were closed in the spring but there's still time to take a virtual tour of kindergarten! We invite you and your child to watch Ready, Set, Go! Making the Move to Kindergartento see how a typical kindergarten day unfolds and hear answers to common questions all without leaving your own home.
  2. Adjust Your Routines
    • Creating routines at home helps ease your child's transition to school. Now is the time to consider adjusting routines for meals, play, and sleep as you gradually transition your child to a full and busy kindergarten day. Check out All Set for Schoolfor more ways to prepare at home.
  3. Keep Learning at Home
