Loaves and Fishes is a network of emergency food pantries located at 16 different sites in Mecklenburg County. Individuals or families in emergency situations are referred by any human service worker or church pastor in the area. Clients are directed to the food pantry nearest them where they are given a week’s supply of nutritionally balanced food. Clients may be helped once every 60 days, except for pregnant women referred by a healthcare professional, in danger of delivering a low-birth weight or undernourished infant. In addition to food, Loaves & Fishes distributes formula, baby food, diapers, and various necessary baby items to referred clients. Call for more information.
